How Ayurveda works on Diabetes
Diabetes is also known as ‘Madhumeha’in Ayuverda.
According to Ayurvedic Medicine, there are 20 types of diabetes: 4 vata types, 6 pitta types and 10 kapha types. If any of these are not treated, this eventually leads to madhumeha (Diabetes mellitus).
It is postulated that Ayurvedic medications may act through potential pancreatic as well as extrapancreatic effects. The probable mechanisms of action include delaying gastric emptying, slowing carbohydrate absorption, and inhibition of glucose transport.
Massage Therapy helps to energise and revitalise the whole body, increase blood circulation and rejuvenate the nerve cells in the body.

Yoga Meditation
Like for most lifestyle diseases, stress is one of the leading reasons for diabetes. It increases the secretion of glucagon hormones in the body, responsible for increasing blood glucose levels. Consistent practice of yoga asanas (body postures), pranayamas (breathing exercises) and a few minutes of daily meditation can help reduce stress in the mind and body. This, in turn, reduces glucagon levels and can also help improve insulin action.
Diabetes could also be worsened with the occurrence of high blood pressure, or hypertension. Yoga asanas, such as the Corpse Pose, Bridge Pose, Child Pose, and Yoga Nidra are all extremely effective in controlling hypertension. A few minutes of regular meditation practice also acts as an excellent stress-buster for the mind and body.
