The Science of Life
Ayurveda is one of the World’s oldest medical systems that originated in India more than 3,000 years ago and remains one of India’s traditional health care systems. Its concepts about health and disease promote the use of herbal compounds, special diets, and other unique health practices.
Ayurveda is a 3000-year-old system of natural healing that has its origins in the Vedic culture of India. The term Ayurveda combines the Sanskrit words Ayur (life) and Veda (science or knowledge). The term Ayurveda; literally translates to the “Science/ Wisdom of life”. It’s more than a mere system of treating illness, rather it offers a body of wisdom designed to people to stay vital while realizing their full human potential.
Key Concepts of Ayurvedic Medicine
It includes universal inter-connectedness (among people, their health and the universe), the body’s constitution, and life forces. The difference between Ayurveda and modern medicine is that focuses on the root cause of the problem and treats the problem and the entire body as a whole unit whereas modern medicine focus on the treatment of symptoms only.
Using these concepts, Ayurvedic physicians prescribe personalized treatments, including compounds of herbs, diet, exercise, and lifestyle recommendations. The focus is on complete wellness -physical, psychological, spiritual, and social wellness.
